University of Alberta Judo Club

Judo has been taught at the University of Alberta since the 1953 when Ray Kelly (the University’s Team Physiotherapist) started teaching. He was succeeded by Ron Powell, and then Ron Senda (the son of Yoshio Senda). Ron Senda taught Judo at the University until his retirement in 2010. Since that time, Kelly Palmer (6 th Dan) and Gord Okamura (7 th Dan) have continued as judo instructors and later assisted by Amin Moazeni.
