Welcome to
Edmonton Yudanshakai Judo Society
EYJS hosts monthly regional tournaments for youth (16 and under) with lower ranks (yellow to green belts), aimed at developing young judokas' skills in a competitive yet supportive environment. These events often feature training camps for further growth.
In 2006, EYJS launched the Edmonton International Judo Championship, held each spring at West Edmonton Mall’s Ice Palace. This tournament welcomes participants from U10 to Veterans, hosted in North America’s largest shopping and entertainment complex.
The event spans multiple days across four mats in a 16,000 ft² skylit area, drawing up to 100,000 daily mall visitors and showcasing judo to a wide audience. As Alberta’s top tourist destination, West Edmonton Mall brings 31 million annual visitors, making this tournament uniquely beneficial.
This Judo Canada sanctioned National “A” event attracts nearly 1,000 competitors from Canada and internationally, including Japan, South America, Europe, Asia, and the USA. It’s a key Canadian National Team Ranking Points tournament, live broadcasted, and a must-attend for elite competition and unmatched exposure.
